Dear Organizational Leader,

If your life is not busier and more challenging today than it was last year, you’re unusual. Most of our members and friends in the social justice, environmental, and peace movement say that the stakes are rising quickly and the demands facing their groups are growing.

The answer to our shared challenges is in building strong local communities capable of mobilizing for whatever action is needed. Tucson is home to many wonderful activists who are aligned with various organizations like yours. Getting all these folks together is the goal of the Tucson Peace Center.

Our 34th annual Peace Fair & Music Festival is coming up Saturday, 11:00am-4:00pm, February 27, 2016 in Reid Park and it’s time for your group to reserve your spot. This year’s theme is: Compassion for Refugees & Migrants – All One World.

You will find an online registration form for your group to reserve a spot at the Peace Fair here. If you intend to sell items at the Fair, the City of Tucson requires a $60 vendor’s license (just $20 for non-profit organizations). The vendor’s license must be purchased from the City before the Fair at one of three locations: 900 S Randolph Way, 7575 E Speedway, or Quincy Douglas at 36th & Kino – call 791-4873 for more information if needed. Food vendors must be cleared in advance; don’t plan to offer edibles unless you’ve already coordinated with TPC for the 2015 Peace Fair.

Organizations bring pop-up canopies, tables, chairs, and promotional materials. Rather than using stakes to secure the canopies (which could potentially pierce utility lines), the City requires weighting them down without drilling into the ground. Empty plastic milk jugs, which can be filled with water when you get to Reid Park, work well; some groups bring cement blocks or rocks.

Thank you for your consideration and support. Even if your group cannot attend this year, please renew your organization’s membership with the Tucson Peace Center so we can continue working for peace on your behalf.
