From Councilman Fimbres’ December 27 Letter:
31st Annual Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association Martin Luther King Virtual Event
For 30 years, our community has enjoyed and supported the Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, held at the Boys and Girls Club, 2585 East 36th Street.
The Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association is the only neighborhood in Tucson that puts on an annual event to honor the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In the 30 years of the event, the Pueblo Gardens Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast has raised thousands of dollars for educational scholarships, school supplies, textbooks and computers for students in the Pueblo Gardens and surrounding neighborhoods.
The cost of the Breakfast and the scholarships are covered through sponsorships, donations and proceeds raised from the auctions and raffles that are held during the Breakfast, and are distributed after the event.
This year, our community has faced one of its biggest challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, for which we have lost loved ones, family members and friends.
The Pueblo Gardens Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Committee decided to honor Dr. King’s work and legacy, as well raise funds for educational scholarships for students, by holding a virtual event for this year, the 31st annual, with virtual speakers and presentations.
You can make a tax deductible donation to help the Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood put on their 31st Annual event, virtually, to honor the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Please make checks payable to the “Pueblo Gardens Neighborhood Association,” put MLK Virtual Event in the Memo line and mail them to:
