SUMMARY:St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church Creating a Culture of Peace Training
DESCRIPTION:St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church\nWill be hosting Creating a Culture of Peace training\nFebruary 27 – March 1 \nCreating a Culture of Peace (CCP) is a nationwide program for community-based peacemaking. The innovative design of CCP provides a holistic and practical foundation in spiritually-grounded active nonviolence. Participants come to recognize their own power for making personal and social changes without violence and improve their skills for respectful engagement with opponents\, instead of confrontation that polarizes and demonizes. \nThe focus of the training is to help individuals and small groups to plan and carry out non violent social actions to strengthen their communities. \nUnlike trainings that focus only on anti-war protest\, CCP training is an incubator for participants to raise issues which most concern them–group controversy and conflict\, neighborhood violence\, domestic violence\, climate change\, war and militarism\, discrimination\, homelessness\, peace education\, and health care. The training is highly participatory and does not depend on reading a book or lectures. It draws upon the wisdom\, experience and talents of all the participants and on the skills and knowledge of trainers. Mutual learning occurs through storytelling\, meditation\, small group sharing\, brainstorming\, role plays\, thought-provoking exercises\, music and movement. CCP offers training on nonviolence principles\, analysis of social change and community-building\, skills for peacemaking\, and resources. Every group chooses\, and plans concrete projects for change. \nWe ask participants to commit to attending the full three day\, 20 hour training.\nThe schedule is 9 AM to 8 PM on Friday and Saturday\, with breaks for meals\, and 1PM to 5 PM on Sunday. \nLunch and dinner will be provided on Friday and Saturday\, and lunch on Sunday. The cost to attend is $120.00 and includes 5 meals and materials. If the cost to attend is a barrier please contact Daniel Petersen-Snyder at (917) 597-7203 or dpetersensnyder@gmail.com. \nIf you are interested in attending or have questions please contact Daniel Petersen-Snyder at dpetersensnyder@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Salt of the Earth Labor College Presents: MUTUAL AID AND CLASS STRUGGLE
DESCRIPTION:MUTUAL AID AND CLASS STRUGGLE\nA Community Forum with folks who are involved. \nSunday\, February 22nd\, 4:00 pm (6 pm Eastern)\nSalt of the Earth Labor College\n1902 E. Irene Vista\nIn Tucson’s South Side \nOr by zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4074490617 \nWe’re inviting organizations and individuals involved in providing mutual aid in our community to come share their experiences in this form of resistance. We hope this Community Forum will engender open discussion on whether there is a need and desire for greater cooperation between groups. Whether intended or not\, even small efforts at mutual aid sometimes turn political when authorities interfere or the folks helped need much more than we can provide. How should that be handled? \nFocusing on collective care and solidarity\, mutual aid in the US has a long history as a peer-to-peer survival strategy for marginalized communities ravaged by natural disasters or the cruel excesses of capitalism. From Black Mutual Aid following the American Revolution\, to the Underground Railroad. From Sociedades Mutualistas to the Black Panther free lunch programs. From Unions’ strike support and food and toy drive for furloughed workers to LGBTQIA+ community’s responses to the onset of the AIDs epidemic to grocery delivery to families terrorized by ICE. Mutual Aid not only protects vulnerable communities through provision of essential goods and services but also helps build solidarity and the movement during this critical period of fight back against the growing fascist tendencies of late stage capitalism.\n——————————————————————————————\nFor more information about Salt of the Earth Labor College please email to SELC@webtv.net or call (520)235-0694 \nWe will be depending on your generosity to keep us going. You can mail checks to- Salt of the Earth Labor College\, 1902 East Irene Vista\, Tucson AZ 85713. We need to maintain our building\, pay for insurance\, property taxes\, and do mailings\, etc.

SUMMARY:Sing Out Revolution! at Revolutionary Grounds
DESCRIPTION:Sing Out Revolution! at Revolutionary Grounds\nSaturday\, February 21\n2:00 – 4:00 p.m.\nRevolutionary Grounds\, 4675 E. Speedway Blvd. \nFrom the organizer: Revolutionary Grounds Bookstore and Coffee will be hosting an afternoon of revolutionary singing. No moment of resistance\, no fight for democracy\, has ever been complete without music\, and we wish to celebrate and enjoy that music together in community. There will be fan-favorites\, but my hope is that everyone also leaves learning at least one new song of protest. \nIt doesn’t matter if you have any musical experience\, everyone can come together to sing collectively in groups in joy\, mourning\, love\, and fightback. All are welcome! \nPlease RSVP here if you can come (so I know how many songbooks to make and if we need to have an extra worker to help cover the cafe during the shift). If you have any questions\, please feel free to reach out to Rev Grounds or drop by anytime 🙂 \nPS: if you spread around the flyer (please do!) remember to share the RSVP link.
