SUMMARY:Salt of the Earth Labor College Presents: CONFRONTING EXTREME HEAT EXPLOITATION
DESCRIPTION:Salt of the Earth Labor College presents: \nCONFRONTING EXTREME HEAT EXPLOITATION \nA workshop with workers impacted by extreme heat and community activists in the struggle to win strong\, enforceable Heat Protection Standards. \nSaturday\, May 9th 4:00 pm (7 pm Eastern)\n@ Salt of the Earth Labor College\n1902 East Irene Vista in Tucson \nOr by Zoom \nAs the climate crisis deepens\, hotter and hotter temperatures arrive earlier and stick around longer than ever before\, jeopardizing the health and safety of workers–from the warehouse to the fields\, from the construction sites to the classrooms\, from delivery trucks to commercial kitchens. Extreme heat exposes workers and other vulnerable people to long-term health impacts and death. In the last 10 years over 4000 people have died in Arizona due to heat exposure. Arizona has not yet adopted enforceable Heat Protection Standards guaranteeing water\, shade and rest\, heat illness prevention training\, and employer accountability. Here and around the world the labor movement\, in coalition with community organizations\, is leading the struggle to demand action and adoption of strong\, enforceable heat protection standards necessary to save lives in the workplace and in our communities. Join us for a community discussion with workers impacted by extreme heat and community activists in the struggle to win strong\, enforceable Heat Protection Standards. \n——————————————————————————————\nFor more information about Salt of the Earth Labor College please email to SELC@webtv.net or call (520)235-0694 \nWe will be depending on your generosity to keep us going. You can mail checks to- Salt of the Earth Labor College\, 1902 East Irene Vista\, Tucson AZ 85713. We need to maintain our building\, pay for insurance\, property taxes\, and do mailings\, etc.
