SUMMARY:NO KINGS at Country Club and Speedway in Tucson
DESCRIPTION:NO KINGS DAY\nSaturday\, March 28\, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\nat North Country Club Road and East Speedway Boulevard \nRegister at: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/901550/ \nAbout this event\nHey friends let’s do this again\, our last be seen event had almost 15\,000 people. Let’s make it bigger this time. Let’s be seen on COUNTRY CLUB and SPEEDWAY and let the world see us and know we are here proud and strong and that we do not stand for what’s going on. We stand for what’s right. I’ll see you there loud and proud\, let’s show them they are not alone in how they feel about everything going on. \nWe have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. \nWhat began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny\, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. \nWhen our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink\, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. \nOn March 28th\, rise up\, take to the streets\, and say it loud: no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events. \nInformation about other No Kings events at: https://www.nokings.org/

SUMMARY:Peace Vigil at Raytheon
DESCRIPTION:* Peace Vigil at Raytheon\, Nogales Highway at Hermans Road\nApril 7\, Tuesday\, 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. \nJoin the Raytheon Peacemakers as we demonstrate against war and those who profit from it.\nSurvival demands better ideas\, not better weapons. \nIn April\, 2020 the Pentagon named Raytheon in Tucson as the sole-source contractor for a multi-billion dollar program to develop and produce the Long-Range Stand-Off (LRSO) missile\, an all-new nuclear-armed cruise missile to be launched from the wings of warplanes. Production of this missile violates the spirit and letter of the 2017 United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons\, which entered into force in January 2021. \nThe wars in Ukraine\, Palestine and elsewhere have brought millions of dollars in new contracts for Raytheon weapons. Weapons and endless war are Raytheon’s business model. It’s commerce\, not defense\, and all about profit\, not security. \nNow simply called Raytheon\, it is the most profitable division of the corporate war profiteer Raytheon Technologies\, RTX.com. With its top management and largest factory in Tucson\, Raytheon employs more than 13\,000 of our Southern Arizona friends and neighbors. \nFor more than two decades\, Raytheon has hailed Tucson as the Missile Technology Capital of the World – a center for lethal innovation and cutting-edge killing for profit. From Standard Missiles to Star Wars “kill vehicles” and hypersonic glide bombs\, AMRAAMs and Javelins\, Mavericks and microwave crowd control beams\, drones\, cluster bombs and now\, nuclear-armed cruise missiles – it’s all made here\, some even sold to friends and foes of friends alike. \nhttps://www.salon.com/2018/06/27/raytheons-profits-boom-alongside-civilian-deaths-in-yemen_partner/ \nWe do not oppose those working at Raytheon.\nWe understand the need for good paying jobs in Tucson. \nWe oppose the militarism that exploits this need\, “developing” our own community at the expense of others around the world. \nSigns provided\, or bring your own. More info: (520)323-8697 or nukeresister@igc.org. \n* Parking is on the NORTH side of the Hermans Road entrance to the plant (3rd traffic light south of Valencia on Nogales Highway\, the extension of South 6th Avenue). Park on the gravel off northbound Nogales Highway\, between railroad tracks and highway\, (closer to the highway than the railroad tracks) north of Hermans Road. \nSAFETY \nThere are many cars turning off Old Nogales Highway from both directions onto Herman’s Road to go to work\, some at a pretty fast clip. People will need to carefully cross Hermans Road with the crossing light at the crosswalk in order to vigil on the south side of Hermans Road. \nAdditionally\, we should take care to not stand in the road\, and to keep our signs\, banners and flags from hanging over the road\, so we don’t create any danger to ourselves or others.

SUMMARY:Peace Vigil at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base
DESCRIPTION:Peace Vigil at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base\, Craycroft Road entrance (details below)\nApril 21\, Tuesday\, 7:00-8:00 a.m. \nPlease note: Signs and banners will be provided\, or you can bring your own.\nSo that our messaging is clear and consistent to passersby (especially drivers who have just a couple of seconds to read a few of our signs)\, we ask that the message on any signs you bring affirms the purpose and focus of our peace vigils noted below.\nThank you. \n \nThe peace vigils are a regular\, nonviolent presence in our community\n* to call for an end to wars and occupations waged by our government in our name and with our tax dollars *\n* to take a stand against war profiteering *\n* to remember the victims of war (including those killed by drones) *\n* to join others around the world in working for peace * \n* Peace vigils at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base\, Craycroft Road entrance (at Golf Links Road) \nWhy protest at Davis-Monthan AFB? \nDRONES:\nAir National Guard troops at Davis-Monthan AFB place Tucson squarely on the global battleground\, by remotely piloting UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) that are firing guided bombs and missiles and killing more civilians than targeted “terrorists” in unnamed sovereign nations. Ground the Drones! \nDEPLETED URANIUM:\nA-10 warplanes that train out of Davis-Monthan AFB are responsible for the vast majority of radioactive ammunition – estimated at well over 400 tons – used in Iraq in 1991 and 2003-2005.\nA recent analysis of targeting data reveals that the toxic ammo was used well beyond its armor-piercing design\, and was used again in Syria in military operations against ISIS in 2015.\nIraq is littered with high levels of nuclear and dioxin contamination\, including depleted uranium\, resulting in greater rates of cancer and birth defects near sites. See https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jan/22/iraq-nuclear-contaminated-sites. \nPark at recreation field parking lot at N-W corner of Craycroft & Golf Links with access from Craycroft. Signs provided\, or bring your own! More info: 323-8697 or nukeresister@igc.org.
